Statement by Matthias Strobl

"the digital age changes our lives. every day we are confonted with incredible amounts of information, our thoughts crave for balance and recreation. increasing urbanization takes away the possibility of a trip to uncivilised nature, a source of silence and recreation. one solution for getting balance and mental recreation is to design our environment in a way, that keeps the digital hecticness out of our thoughts. light is a central parameter in our attention and has the power to change our mental condition. light can be designed in a way that contributes to our well-beeing."

Inventor of lightmotiv

In 1998 Matthias Strobl invented the lightmotiv© projector, which creates the "lightmotiv.analog" projection.

The contents of a small petri dish inside the projector become subject to chemical, physical and biological reactions, which are enlarged up to 100m in size. Through addition of special liquids and colours a neverending flow of organic images is created - formed by the forces of nature. Abstract figures and colours which inspire the person who is looking at it.

lightmotiv shows the fascinating reality of natural processes and awakes in us a presentinment of the great totality which is more than the sum of its components.
